Welcome to the 3rd Annual Golden Film
Festival!
The Golden Film Festival was started by members of the Golden Resource for Education, Arts and Theatre (GREAT), which was originally founded to save the historic Gem Theater, Golden’s only movie theatre. While they were unable to save the theatre, the group came back with a strong resolve to bring film to Golden and began the Golden Film Festival in 2003. The first festival featured Michael Moore’s
Bowling for Columbine, and the second year drew films such as
Capturing the Friedmans, As Far As the Eye Can
See, Asylum, and other Oscar-nominated films.
The festival would like to congratulate all of the filmmakers and film collaborators who were selected for the
2004 Golden Nugget
Awards!
The festival expects to build upon last year’s success as we continue to stimulate local interest in the arts while supporting independent film and documentary making worldwide.
The Golden Film Festival takes place at the Colorado School of Mines screening rooms. The 2005 Festival is scheduled for February 24-27, 2005.
